Epidural during birth may negatively affect breastfeeding
Women who receive an epidural during childbirth are more likely to have breastfeeding problems in the first week and to stop breastfeeding before the end of six months than women who don't receive an epidural, an Australian study says.

Pregnant women and growing babies are more vulnerable to foodborne illness. Food safety in pregnancy can be ordered (free) on 0800 693 721 (0800 NZFSA1) or downloaded from the NZFSA website.

The Nurture Foundation - www.nurture.org.nz - a fundraising charity for research into infertility, miscarriage and pregnancy complications. The website details personal stories and ongoing research, and some trials New Zealanders can take part in.

CMI contains advice such as what the medicine is used for, how it should be taken, what side effects can occur, whether you can drive or drink alcohol while taking the medicine, and what to do if you miss a dose.
